Circa the year 2000, I was one of the eight (yes eight) fine roomies, including Piper's lesser half Chris, living at the infamous 410 Cole Street in San Francisco. During this period Chris was staying particularly busy working at FCB on the Sega Dreamcast Launch. The 410 gang missed seeing Chris around the house, and would compare notes on the last time we'd spotted him coming and going. One evening, Chris came home...and he brought a friend. Piper was introduced to the crew. I recall my first impression of Piper being both kind and lovely. I also recall thinking perhaps Chris hadn't been as busy (with work) as he let on...and that he must really like this lady if he was willing to bring her around the near feral lot of us living on Cole Street. Half a lifetime later, with many moments, memories, and chili dogs in between, I'm very excited to wish you a wonderful 50th birthday Piper. Long may you run!

I vividly remember during our Cole Street days when Chris first told me about this girl that he had met and was interested in. When you guys first started dating, I knew it was different. Something special. He had never talked about a girl in all the years that I had known Chris, the way he talked about you. He was so excited and I quickly began to understand that he was falling in love with you. I felt so happy for him, you are such a beautiful match for each other. I was so honored to speak at your wedding and I have such happy memories of spending time with Carol at the ranch, surrounded by so many friends and your wonderful families. Now all these years later, after kids and building a life together, it’s amazing to be able to celebrate your 50th birthday. Chris is still head over heels in love with you and you have so many friends that know that there really is nobody else quite like you, Piper. Cheers to you and to many more decades of creating memories that we can all share. We love you!

Years ago, Matt and Ely had spent the whole day mountain biking, just crushing it - setting KOMs - before rolling up to Piper and Chris’s place in Santa Monica looking like two dust-covered wookies. They were starving, filthy, and barely standing upright when the door opened. Piper, ever the gracious host, just smiled and welcomed them in with a hug and without hesitation. Within minutes, the kitchen was under siege. Plates of food vanished, leftovers were demolished, and the beer supply was destroyed. By the time the damage was done, Piper and Chris were left wondering when was the last time Matt & Ely ate - and what the rest of the guests were going to eat that night. But instead of frowning, Piper laughed. She ushered everyone out to the backyard, where they sat under the stars, telling stories, drinking the last of the beer, and feeling completely at home. That night left a mark—one of generosity, warmth, and friendship. And so today, on Piper’s 50th birthday, we raise a glass to the woman who somehow still smiles, still welcomes, and still makes everyone feel like family… even when the fridge gets raided. Happy Birthday, Piper—you make it impossible to forget how lucky we are to know you.
